Under the recently released Illinois Sports Safety Guidelines basketball was designated as a medium risk sport. This allows for practices and inter-squad scrimmages but, there will be no Fall competitions, games tournaments.
Following these guidelines, Flow is dedicating the Fall to an AAU-level Developmental Bootcamp appropriate for athletes in grades 8-10. Without games, it creates an opportunity this Fall to focus even more deeply on individual skill development, shooting and conditioning in order to increase a player’s success during the spring/summer AAU Season of 2021 and/or hopefully a high school season if that is permitted.
The Fall AAU Bootcamp runs September 1 to Oct 25. The team will gather four (4) times per week for one hour: Tue and Thu evenings, Sat and Sun mornings. The athletes will focus on game-like shooting and skill repetition. Each athlete will working closely with coaches on their specific developmental skill needs. We will use the time to take a more customized approach. We will invest time in getting faster and stronger. And we will dedicate one full session weekly to fast-paced scrimmage to have a place to implement the skill work and gain feedback.
